We have spent the last two weekends with my dad. It always feels long overdue. Last weekend he and Ally came up Friday night with some prompting from Andra, who had to work all weekend. Lynne made us dinner and we ate and talked while the kids played. (Jason had a vasectomy the day before so he wasn't up for much. I think my dad comes up to see him more than me sometimes--I'm such a nerd and Jas is the fun one! Ally got sick about 8. She hadn't really eaten anything just drank a couple of sodas, but she was vomiting and running a low grade fever so she went to bed early. Our kids always go to bed at 8 so they were both in bed and we all watched 'just go with it' with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. It was okay, Jason said you had to 'just go with it' to make the movie plausible. Lacy ate dinner with us but left soon afterwards.  Temp said 122 when we got out of the movie theatre, by the time daddy figured out how to take the photo it was down to 119.

The next morning we went to the library. It was our first time. The Garland Co public library is so nice! The children's library is separate from the adult section so the kids could talk and play. They had legos, a train, and dinosaurs. We all checked out a book and went home for lunch and naps. Then we took the kids to watch the new Smurfs movie in 3D. Ally loved it, and Hudson liked it to although he would've preferred something with more action. After the movie they headed home because of the heat. My dad had to check on his cows. We've had record high temps without rain for a long while and it's even worse in Horatio.  Jasons friend Rick from high school came up to visit Saturday night because his wife and kids were out of town so they went out for beers. We did absolutely nothing the next day, and it was awesome!
This last weekend the kids and I went down to Horatio to my dad and Andra's for Ally's 6th birthday party. It was really great because my Uncle Gaylon, Aunt Joyce and her husband Larry, my cousin Dylon, family friends John David and Barbara, Tammi and Cheyenne Soden, Andra's mom and stepdad and sisters Tyler and Megan, and some of Andra's friends were there. The kids had a great time running around and getting dirty. Hudson played with a little kitten the whole time. Holden was really good too just playing and cuddling with everyone. Everyone adores Holden right now, he's at the perfect age for cuteness.  He can't tell you what he really thinks of you yet. Hudson wrote all over himself and Holden with an ink pen. Ally got a lot of nice dolls ands MobiGo gaming system. They had such a good time and so did I. My Aunt Joyce and I played daddy and Dylon in Moon and we won! Playing moon (a domino game) was one of my favorite things to do with my dad when we were younger.  He taught us how to play when we were young, he rarely let us win, and we played every week I think.  My other favorite was playing basketball in driveway.  Then we had to head back. The kids were cranky and tired. It was there bedtime.
Oh and Thursday night we went to see Captain America Jason and I. It was really good. For sure a movie I would watch again. At the end there was a preview for the new Avengers movie coming out in May. I'm very excited about this and hope Hudson can go! Sunday the 14th we took the kids swimming and ate pizza with Lacy and her friend Meghan. 

Photo of Holden at his 1 year checkup.  He's wearing his cute little See Kai Run shoes that my mom just bought him.  I love them!  He weighed 24 pds 13oz (75-90%iles), and was 32 1/2 in I believe (75-90%iles).  Hudson wanted to make sure that this was Holden's appointmen and not his.  Holden had to get three shots and he did not like it at all.  He was ready to get out of the doctors office!
Tuesday the 16th we met my friend and coworker LeaAnna and her daughter Adelyn at the library.  We checked out a Batman movie.  The boys were really good at first, just playing with toys and looking through the books.  Hudson went to get a drink from the fountain and spilled water on his shirt.  He HATES to be wet, so he took it off.  Shirtless in a public library.  He's running towards me at the back of the library without his shirt on, and then he ran from me.  He did almost 2 laps around the library before I got a hold of him and put him in time-out.  I suppose we should've talked about rules for the library before we went.  I should be really embarassed and I was a little but it was mostly funny to me.  I hope my kid stays just the way he is.

 

On the 23rd after work we took the boys to Lake Catherine State Park to the swim and play area.  It was 6pm by the time we were dressed and made the drive over.  It was such a cute little swim area for the boys, there were only a handful of other people there, and it was a perfect 73 degrees.  A perfect summer evening.  Hudson is checking out the ducks and 'sand'.Playing in the lake.  What a great day!

So we thought we were getting a September niece, but it turns out she wanted to come early!  Madelyn Lynne Risner was born on Saturday August 27th, 2011 at about 7:30am weighing 6pds 5oz and 20 1/2 inches long.  She was delivered via c-section because she was breach.  Sally and Jeff took it all in stride, but I know they are getting very tired.  Jeff never left the hospital to even go home to shower and he worked all day, coached his first football game Friday night and spent all night on the couch with Sally and Madelyn.  Madelyn is a little doll.  My first impression was that she favored Pam, Sally's mom, (and therefore Sally because they favor a lot!) but the next day she seemed to favor Jeff a bit more.  Here are a few photos we stole from Sam, Sara, and Sally to fit into our memory book. 

Travelers August 27,2011

After we saw Jeff, Sally, and Maddie we decided to take Holden to a Travelers game.  Hudson had such a great time at theThey had  game, rolling down hills and playing with his two spiderman action figures with another little boy.  They also had a firework show, which was really awesome and unexpected.  Hudson still has an aversion to the noise, but he liked watching them from the car.
